On Monday, August 1, an elderly couple was found dead in their mobile home believed to have died from heat stroke as temperatures reached into the mid-90s over the weekend.

The couple, Larry and Mary Greer, is believed to have died on Sunday, July 31. Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said that the temperature in the home felt to like 100 degrees due to the couple not having air conditioning. Additionally, according to Futch, the two had recent health issues that put them in “bad shape’ for the high temperatures.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heat exhaustion is most likely to affect people over 65, people with high blood pressure, children, and those who work in hot environments. Symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, irritability, thirst, heavy sweating, elevated body temperature and decreased urine output.
